The Wasteland | A Poem by T. S. Eliot

La Josephine Hart Poetry Foundation se creó para promover el avance de las artes, la cultura y la educación, con especial atención a la poesía, la literatura y la representación dramática. A través de The Poetry Movement, La Josephine Hart Poetry Foundation quiere presentarse como el siguiente paso lógico en la forma en que consumimos poesía, desarrollando un espacio creativo que encapsula la belleza de la imaginación y la inventiva. 

Los parísinos Troublemakers.tv han sido los escogidos para crear una trilogía de animaciones que acompañen su lanzamiento. El segundo de los films presentado recoge una lectura a cargo del poeta y artista Robert Montgomery de un fragmento de The Waste Land (La tierra baldía), poema publicado por T. S. Eliot en 1922. Dirigido por Icecream alias Nico Dufoure y haciendose eco del titulo de la sección de la que se extrae el fragmento, The Burial of the Dead (El entierro de los muertos), la animación se desarrolla en un  mundo post-apocalíptico

Unreal City,
Under the brown fog of a winter dawn,
A crowd flowed over London Bridge, so many,
I had not thought death had undone so many.
Sighs, short and infrequent, were exhaled,
And each man fixed his eyes before his feet.
Flowed up the hill and down King William Street,
To where Saint Mary Woolnoth kept the hours
With a dead sound on the final stroke of nine.
There I saw one I knew, and stopped him, crying: “Stetson!
“You who were with me in the ships at Mylae!
“That corpse you planted last year in your garden,
“Has it begun to sprout? Will it bloom this year?
“Or has the sudden frost disturbed its bed?
“Oh keep the Dog far hence, that’s friend to men,
“Or with his nails he’ll dig it up again!
“You! hypocrite lecteur!—mon semblable,—mon frère!”
